Our lab conducts research on the psychopathology and treatment of eating disorders.
One program of research concerns the treatment of binge eating among underserved groups, including ethnic/racial minorities and individuals with lower levels of education.
Another program of research concerns the treatment of individuals with co-occurring eating and personality disorders.
Another area of interest is the use of technology to enhance the validity and potency of research and treatment.
Biographical Data
Dr. Thompson-Brenner is the Director of the Eating Disorders Program at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University, and an Associate Research Professor in the Clinical Psychology program. Her research in eating disorder treatment outcome has been supported by grants from private foundations and from the National Institutes of Health, including a Patient-Oriented Mentored Career Development Award from the National Institute of Mental Health. The Eating Disorders Program provides evidence-based treatments for eating disorders. Dr. Thompson-Brenner has advised and supervised many doctoral students with careers focused on eating disorders research and treatment.
